May Trip #10 - Arches

Sunrise

We were up an on the road at sunrise leaving Dead Horse Point State Park. Our entry time into Arches National Park was from 6:00 am to 7:00am. Early but worth it. I think next time we will plan far enough ahead to camp in Arches NP for a couple of nights. That would give us the opportunity to be there for sunrise and sunset, time to hike a bit and time to hang out.

Arches National Park

Something tells me we have another steep, windy, narrow road to go up today. I know there are arches somewhere behind that wall of rock, but I'm not sure how we will get in there.

I was right! Looking back we have already climbed a good bit
and it is steep and windy and beautiful!

Here come the rock formations!

First stop: Park Avenue

Balanced Rock

Finally some arches: North and South Window Arches

Double Arch

Often the backdrop of snow capped mountains in the distance.

Delicate Arch. I took the 1 mile stroll to the viewpoint, rather than the 3 mile hike to the arch. You can see the teeny, tiny people to the left of the arch. This is the arch on the Utah license plates.

Always look the other way to make sure you're not missing a great view.

Skyline Arch

We arrived at our next campsite at Green River to find that they were watering it. We're not in California anymore.
